How the 2048 Rankings Work

2048 is the classic sliding-tile math game: merge two equal tiles to double their value and chase ever-bigger numbers. On CPSCount the puzzle never stops at the 2048 tile — there are three ways to play, two of them ranked. Level mode ranks you by the highest level you reach, with score breaking ties; Hardcore mode ranks you by your highest score.

Level Mode — The Endless Climb

Each level is a freshly generated board with a head start — you'll begin Level 2 already holding a 64 — and a target tile that doubles every level: 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048, 4096 and onward with no cap. The Level leaderboard ranks you by the highest level you reach, so a top spot is a true test of long-game planning in this free 2048 puzzle online.

Hardcore Mode — Survive for Score

No target and no levels — just the highest score you can manage. Most cells start filled with small, awkward numbers that clog the board, and three difficulties raise the stakes: Easy, Medium and Hard add 0, 1 or 2 immovable blocking tiles and multiply your score ×1, ×2 or ×3. The Hardcore leaderboard ranks players by score, and you bank 1 coin for every 1,000 points.

Earn Coins While You Play

Level mode pays 5 coins the first time you clear each new level, and Hardcore pays 1 coin for every 1,000 points. Out of moves? Spend 20 coins to rewind three moves and save your run. Coins are shared across the whole CPSCount site, so your 2048 grind also unlocks themes and cursor trails in the Shop.

Free, Unblocked & Mobile-Ready

The CPSCount 2048 game is a free web game that runs in any modern browser with nothing to install, which makes it playable as an unblocked game at school or work. Use the arrow keys or WASD on desktop and swipe on your phone or tablet — the same classic 2048 browser experience everywhere.

2048 Leaderboard FAQ

How is the 2048 leaderboard ranked?
It depends on the mode. The Level board ranks players by the highest level they reach, using score as a tiebreaker — climbing means reaching 1024, 2048, 4096 and beyond. The Hardcore board ranks players purely by their highest score.
What's the difference between the Level and Hardcore boards?
The Level board ranks the endless climb mode, where every level is a freshly generated board with a head start and a target tile that doubles each level. The Hardcore board ranks a separate score-attack mode — no target, no levels: most cells start filled with small numbers and you play for the highest score, with Easy, Medium and Hard difficulties adding immovable blocking tiles (0, 1 or 2) and multiplying your score ×1, ×2 or ×3.
How do I get on the 2048 leaderboard?

Is the 2048 game free to play?
Yes — it's completely free, needs no download, and runs unblocked in any modern browser on desktop or mobile. You earn coins by clearing new levels in Level mode and by scoring points in Hardcore mode.
