Break Bricks Strategy: Paddle Angles, Power-Ups and High Scores
Anyone can bounce a ball, but clearing level after level — or stacking up a huge Infinite score — comes down to a handful of habits. Here is how to control the ball instead of chasing it, which power-ups to grab and which to dodge, and how to push deep into the campaign and up the leaderboard in Break Bricks.
Steer the ball with the paddle
The single most important skill is aiming. Where the ball hits your paddle decides where it goes: strike it with the centre and it bounces back fairly straight; strike it with the edge and it flies off at a sharp angle. Use this on purpose. To reach a stubborn brick tucked in a corner, meet the ball with the far edge of the paddle and send it diagonally into that gap rather than waiting for luck to take it there.
Open a channel to the top
A classic brick-breaker tactic: clear a vertical column on one side to open a channel, then angle the ball up through it so it rattles along the top of the wall. Bricks are far easier to clear from above, and a ball trapped above the wall can demolish a whole board on its own while you simply keep your paddle ready underneath.
Power-up priority
Not every capsule is worth chasing — and one is a trap.
- Grab on sight: Multiball over a dense cluster is the fastest way to clear a board, and Life is always worth a small risk.
- Grab when it helps: Wide is great when the ball is moving fast or you're juggling several balls; Catch buys you a moment to aim a precise shot; Laser is handy for picking off the last few awkward bricks.
- Save it: Slow is most valuable on the fastest waves — don't waste it early when the ball is already manageable.
- Avoid: Shrink makes your paddle smaller. If a Shrink capsule is falling, simply move out of its way and let it drop.
Managing multiball
Multiball clears bricks in seconds, but several balls at once are harder to track and you'll often lose a couple quickly. That's fine — the goal is to cash in the chaos for bricks while it lasts. Stay centred so you can cover the widest spread, prioritise keeping any ball alive over saving a specific one, and don't panic when the count drops back to one; you usually come out ahead.
Surviving the speed-up (Infinite)
In Infinite mode the ball gets faster over time, so your reads need to get earlier, not faster. Keep your paddle near the middle as a default resting position, make small adjustments rather than big swings, and hold a Slow power-up in reserve for when the pace starts to bite. Because the speed is capped, there's a ceiling you'll adjust to — once you're used to top speed, it stops feeling unfair and becomes a rhythm.
Going deep in the campaign
Levels mode rewards consistency over flash. Each level gives you a fresh set of lives, so treat every board as its own puzzle: clear the loose bricks first to reduce the chaos, then open a channel and let angles do the heavy lifting on the tougher multi-hit bricks. There's no timer, so patience is free — a calm, deliberate clear is how people reach triple-digit levels.
Leaderboard tactics
The two modes are ranked differently, so play to the board you care about. Infinite ranks by your best score (one point per brick), so the aim is sheer survival — milk every wave, protect your last ball, and bank power-ups for the fast late game. Levels ranks by the highest level you've cleared, and because progress is permanent, steady grinding always pays off: every level you beat is locked in for good. Sign in before you play so your runs actually count.
