Reaction time benchmarks are useful only when you know what they measure. This chart explains common visual reaction time ranges, why online tests differ from laboratory tests, and how to compare your own results fairly.

Why this is not a medical test

A browser reaction test measures the whole chain: your eyes, attention, motor response, mouse or keyboard, display latency, browser timing and operating system scheduling. That makes it useful for gaming and setup comparison, but not for diagnosis. Use it as a personal benchmark.

Age, practice and consistency

Reaction speed often changes with age, but the daily factors are easier to control: sleep, focus, caffeine, posture and input device. Practice can improve consistency because you learn to stay ready without clicking early. The best sign of improvement is not one lucky best score; it is a tighter average with fewer very slow trials.
