Understand the board before you move
What is Traffic Escape?
Traffic Escape is a tap-to-drive traffic jam puzzle: a packed parking lot where every car points in a fixed direction. Tap a car with a clear lane and it drives off the board; tap a blocked one and it crashes into its neighbor and reverses back. This page answers searches for traffic escape game , traffic jam puzzle and car escape game with a free, no-download browser version.
Two modes: Levels and Rush Hour
Levels is the ranked progression: clear every car from lots that grow from 5×5 to a jammed 9×9, with crashes counted but forgiven. Rush Hour is the leaderboard mode — endless boards, +20 per escaped car, +100 per cleared lot, but you only have 3 bumpers: the third crash ends the run.
Every lot is solvable
Boards are constructed car by car so that a full escape order always exists — the generator builds the solution while it parks the cars. If everything looks stuck, some car on the lot is still free to go; crashes never make a level unwinnable because bumped cars return to their spot.
Strategy that actually helps
Check the lane, not the car: follow each car's heading to the edge before tapping. Cars parked on the rim pointing outward are always safe. Freeing one lane often unblocks a whole column — look for those chain escapes and save the deep, buried cars for last.
Endless levels, rising difficulty
Lots grow from a friendly 5×5 to a dense 9×9 where more than half the asphalt is occupied. Each level number always generates the same lot, so you can replay any level you have reached and go for a zero-crash PERFECT DRIVER clear.
Ranked two ways
Log in and first-time level clears move you up the levels board, while your best Rush Hour run fights for the score board on the Traffic Escape leaderboard . Both pay XP and coins for the shop , and Your Rank below the lot shows who is directly above and below you.
Rules and decisions that matter
What is Traffic Escape?
A free browser puzzle where you tap cars to drive them off a packed lot in the direction they point. A car only escapes when its lane to the edge is clear. No download or install is needed.
Are the levels always solvable?
Yes. Every lot is constructed so that at least one full escape order exists, and crashed cars bounce back to their spot, so the puzzle can never become unwinnable.
What happens when a car crashes?
It lurches into the blocking car, honks, and reverses back to its spot. In Levels a crash just counts against your PERFECT; in Rush Hour it costs one of your three bumpers.
What is Rush Hour mode?
The score-run mode: endless lots, +20 per escaped car and +100 per cleared lot. You have 3 bumpers — the third crash ends the run and your best score goes on the leaderboard.

Common mistakes and how to correct them
The fastest-looking move is often not the safest. Scan the whole board, protect working space, avoid spending recovery tools too early and review the exact move that created the problem.
Turn the ideas into a repeatable practice routine
Play slowly for three rounds. Before every action, name the goal of the move, the space it creates and the next move it enables. Then replay at normal speed without abandoning that check.
