How to create random teams
Enter one participant per line and choose the number of teams. Blank lines are ignored. The generator shuffles the list and assigns every participant once; copy the result to share the group assignments.
Balanced sizes and duplicate names
Team sizes differ by no more than one person: ten people in three teams gives groups of four, three and three. Balance refers to headcount, not skill. Identical names count as separate participants, so add initials to tell them apart.
Frequently asked questions
Is anyone left out?
No. Every non-empty input line appears once in the generated teams. Blank lines are ignored.
Can I shuffle again?
Yes. Generate teams again for a fresh shuffle. A previous grouping can repeat because every shuffle is independent.
Are the names uploaded or saved?
This tool processes names in your browser tab and does not upload or save them. Copy the result before closing or reloading the page.
